DROPON BITS
User Instructions
Inland DropOn bits must be used with the Inland DropOn Adapter #DB-ADP.
Safety
- It is extremely important to wear proper eye protection when using
any glass grinder. We highly recommend that you wear safety goggles rather than safety glass.
You can also use the Inland FaceShield or
MagnaShield in conjunction with proper eye
wear for added protection: A shield alone is not adequate eye protection.
- DO NOT wear loose
clothing or any accessories (long necklaces, bracelets, shirts with long fringes, and similar)
that might get caught by the grinder head while using any Inland grinder.
- Use only in a properly grounded and tested outlet. Under NO
circumstances should you override the grounding system or modify the
plug.
- Set up your machine on a sturdy, level work surface that is water
tolerant and a comfortable height to work on
- Do not sit your grinder in a pan, on a towel or carpeting.
Instructions
Apply a generous amount of Inland Motor Shaft
Lubricant
(#50022) or other non-water soluble
grease to the inside of the DropOn bit sleeve and the outside of the DropOn Adapter. This
seals debris from getting inside both parts.
- Make sure the set screw is turned in enough to allow the sleeve to slide onto the adapter.
- Slide the DropOn Bit (sleeve) onto the adapter. The tiny "keybar" on the inside of
the sleeve must align with the "keyway" groove on the adapter. Slide the sleeve all
the way down onto the adapter.
- Install the adapter with the sleeve attached to the grinder shaft like you would any other
bit.
- Apply a thin coating of Inland Motor Shaft
Lubricantto the motor shaft.
- Loosen the set screw on the adapter by turning it counterclockwise with one of the black
allen wrenches.
- Slide the adapter with bit down onto the motor shaft, positioning the set screw over the
flat side of the motor shaft. It should should slide on easily. Do not force! Contact
customer service if you have problems.
- Lower the adapter down until just over an 1/8 of silver diamond in the sleeve is
exposed above the grid work surface.
- Secure the adapter to the motor shaft by turning the set screw clockwise with the allen
wrench. IMPORTANT: Always secure the bit to the flat side of the motor shaft.
Tightening the bit to the rounded side can scar the shaft and prevent bit removal!
- Once the adapter is installed you can change bit sizes and grits by simply sliding off the
sleeve in use and sliding on a new one. Make sure to coat the inside of the sleeve and the
outside of the adapter with Motor Shaft
Lubricant whenever you change sleeves.
- The full size sleeves have the same amount of
usable diamond surface as a standard grinding bit. Half
size sleeves are an economical alternative when you occasionally need a special grit and
don't want to invest in a full size head. Also, the 1" diameter and the 3/4"
diameter sleeves fit on the same adapter making the DropOn bit system even more flexible and economical.
Maintenance
- Apply Inland Motor
Shaft Lubricant (#50022) to the shaft
whenever changing or removing grinding heads.
Remove the head if you wont be using the
grinder for more than a week.
- Tighten grinding head set screws ONLY
to the flat side of the motor shaft to prevent
scaring the shaft which makes removing the
head nearly impossible. Never force a bit onto
the shaft and never pry off a bit. If the bit
is stuck, contact Inland Customer service for
instructions at 1-800-521-8427, ext. 306
- Never use your diamond grinding bits without proper lubrication. Failure to do so will result
in premature wearing of the diamond surface.
