New grinder

I love this grinder. When I first started stained glass about a year ago I bought a used mini grinder for $40. It worked great for what I was doing in the beginning. I do more pieces and this has cut my grind time down significantly. I also love the bit that allows me to grind holes in the glass.

Could be better

Replaced my old Glastar grinder with the WizCG. Don’t like the water tray much. Your ads say it’s convenient to just remove it to dump it out and clean it, but it really isn’t, since you have to remove the grinding bit(s) each time, note their position, and replace them. The water tray is hard to scrape out, since you have left all sorts of mold flashing inside. I’ve had to shave these off with a sharp chisel so I could scrape it out. You mention caution about getting water down the motor shaft, which kind if implies that there isn’t a proper seal on the motor shaft.. if so, that’s a weak design feature. Finally, the “bitsert” gets pushed back when the sponge is in place, raising the front edge so that any piece of glass you’re grinding hits it and sticks. I’ve had to add some small stainless machine screws to hold the front edge if that down and out of the way.
The grinding bits (drums) seem to be good quality, and are holding up well. Too bad you don’t have the 1/4” bit thread into the shaft so one could remove the larger one without taking the smaller one off.
Overall, it’s a pretty nice grinder, but has several annoying design features that make it not as good as my old Glastar.

Hi James - Thank you for sharing such a detailed review of your experience with the Wiz. We really appreciate you taking the time to point out both what’s working well (like the grinding bits) and where you feel the design could be improved.

We hear your concerns about the water tray, bitsert, and motor seal design, and your feedback is very valuable to our product team as we continue making improvements. While the tray and bitsert are designed for ease of use, we understand they may not be meeting expectations in your case. We’re also glad to hear you’ve found the grinding bits themselves to be durable and high-quality.

If you’d like, our support team would be happy to walk you through a few tips that may help with tray removal and bitsert positioning. Please feel free to reach out to us at info@inlandcraft.com or (248) 583-7150. Thanks again for your honest feedback and for giving the Wiz a try—we’ll continue striving to make our tools the best choice for glass artists like you!

WizCG grinder

I love the WizCG grinder. I do find it a bit strange that you have to take the grinding wheel off every time you have to clean it. But other than that it is easy to clean. I hope it lasts as long as my first Inland grinder.
