At Inland Craft, the environment is very important to us. We must all be aware of how we affect the world around us. We must continuously seek out ways to improve how we work and ultimately, live our lives. Inland Craft is committed to operating our business in an environmentally responsible manner and recognize that reducing the environmental impact of our products and operations is an important part of the value we deliver to our customers.

  • We are the first manufacturer in our industry to purchase energy ONLY from renewable sources to power all our manufacturing processes.
  • Our energy consumption is constantly being monitored, with ways found to reduce it. This saves both electricity and money, and those savings are always enjoyed by our customers. Our offices and plant are never the coolest in the summer, and they are never the warmest in the winter. At Inland, business casual often manifests itself as “shorts in the summer” and “sweaters in the winter”.
  • We comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations and operate our facility with all necessary environmental permits, approvals, and operational controls. As a result, we have reduced our waste stream to the point we have been classified as the lowest possible level of waste producer by the State of Michigan.
  • We have converted nearly all our lighting to fluorescent fixtures and bulbs. Because they contain mercury, spent fluorescent bulbs are not sent to the landfill, they are delivered to a proper collection facility.
  • We committed to replacing all our computer equipment with Energy Star compliant items.
  • We promote and maintain a vigorous recycling program for all office paper, ink and toner cartridges, computers, and electronics.
  • Our German warehouse has contracted with a company to recycle all our post-consumer grinders, saws, irons, and other electronic equipment when they are beyond their useful lives.
  • Corrugated boxes from many of our local suppliers are folded flat and returned for reuse.
  • Wood pallets are always reused for shipments to our distributors. Those pallets not deemed worthy of shipping are often used for in-house storage.
  • All of our empty metal drums are donated to Michigan Boy Scout councils for repurpose as trash containers at their Summer Camps.
  • We provide employees with readily accessible containers for recycling plastics, cans, and other consumables packaging.
  • We train employees on our policy and instill environmental responsibility as a corporate value.
