This product is used to remove granite in a sculpture environment. At 100 grit, it is very efficient at cutting and undercutting while establishing sharp delineation
between design elements. Continued use degrades the sharp edge between the top and the sides. Careful grinding on a bench grinder reestablishes that edge. This allows the bur to be utilized until it virtually disappears. I usually have two or three in service at any given time, each at a different point in its service life. The only significant drawback to this bur is a weakness that is shared by all your burs with this shank thickness. The shanks weaken over time and use and must not be unduly stressed. Shank failure is common if care is not used. In order to mitigate the prospect of such an occurrence, the burs are mounted approximately one quarter of an inch from the collet. This allows them to be normally used without centrifugal force bending the shank but also leaving enough shank for eventual reinsertion should the shank snap as it sometimes does. That having been said, your burs are an essential tool in my tool stable. I have come to depend on them to articulate the finest small details that are often a part of the designs I am called to execute. Thank you very much for an outstanding product.
